AskSARA now displays videos of products when these have been added by a product supplier. Product manuals can also be downloaded from AskSARA if these have been uploaded by the products' supplier/s.

Cold weather and heating

As winter arrives and the temperature drops we are highlighting AskSARAs heating section. This contains advice on heating appliances, thermostats, carbon monoxide alarms and sources of funding which may be available to assist with the cost of heating your home. Complete the section.

The toilet

Our toilet section has been split into three to allow more comprehensive advice. The three sections are 'getting on and off the toilet', 'getting to the toilet' and 'using the toilet'. 04/09/09

Sweeping floors and vacuuming

This new section includes advice and product listings on vacuum cleaners with features to enhance ease of use, vacuums with filtration systems to reduce allergens and long handled dust pans and brushes. 25/08/09

Memory

Our memory section has a range of advice and product ideas relating to memory. This includes remembering the date or appointments, remembering the way home, remembering medication and turning off kitchen appliances. The section has been updated and split into two sections to give room for more advice, one for activities in the home and one for activities outside the home. 24/08/09

Using a computer

This new section includes advice and product suggestions for users who experience difficulty viewing their sceen, operating the keyboard or mouse. The section also includes lists of Braille computer equipment. 01/08/09

Vision

Our vision section has products and ideas which may be useful for blind or partially sighted people. The section has been updated and split up into sections relating to: communication including writing, reading, using a computer or telephone; household & personal products; hobbies and leisure; time & date; and shopping & going out. 01/08/09
